<i><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></i>
<i><span style="color: blue; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In this world filled with technology, it seems that a humble paper spining top does not have place among today's childrens. But that is true until they are faced with it. First they look at it with no interest at all, then they try it, with very shy and clumsy movements at first. Then, they find out it spins very well!... The indeference becomes interest and everybody asks how to make it...</span></i><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

:)<br />
<br />
<br />

<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">

<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/syribia/7055625807/" title="photo sharing"><img alt="" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5275/7055625807_05ee1e572f_m.jpg" style="border: solid 2px #000000;" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">

<br /><b><i><span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i><span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">In all this time and, despite the name ot the blog, I had just folded a single cow: The "Pajarita Vaca Loca". In the past, I had planned to design a cow that also could be the blog's pet.</span></i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i><br />I made an attempt with traditional origami and I have a prototype somewhere. However, I didn't like it a lot because it looks so serious and I wanted to have a fun one.</i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i> So, since I have plenty of card, I decided to again to resort to the non-traidiconal 3d-origami and finally a cute cow was born.</i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i>Making it was not hard. However, it is made out of more than 1200 units! This is by far, my work with the most number of units at the moment.</i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<b><i>I just have to say, that now I understand why 3d-origami becomes so addictive. You star to think about more complex ideas and when you notice, you find your self saying "If I've made more than 1000 units, then, I can make 3000 or more..." Crazy, isn't it?</i></b></div>

<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br />
Que lo disfruten! <br />

<i>In the last few months, I've been exploring non traditional origami, specifically chinese module. I've finished this model yesterday. It is relatively easy to make, it is just made out of 144 modules.</i></div>

<i>For those who want to learn this technique, the following tutorials are very useful. It is easy to learn.
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="213" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vYIEpCEcML8" width="360"></iframe>
</div>
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="213" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/B0GN964x7pM" width="360"></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />

<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Estrellas de 4 y 5 picos de Endla Saar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i> I have to say, that las Chirstmas, I did two different origami trees, one for my house, and other for the office. The one I made for the office, was achieved following the tutorial in <a href="http://stephensorigami.blogspot.com/2010/12/origami-christmas-tree-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Stephen's Origami blog</a>. The star was also shown on that blog, but Stephen did not make any tutorial for the star. He just mentioned the author: Endla Saar. He also says, that he was not able to find diagrams for such star.</i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i>So I decided to look for the diagrams. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the diagrams for the 5 point star. However, I found the diagrams for the 4 point star. <a href="http://es.scribd.com/doc/54289309/Endla-Saar-Saar-Star" target="_blank">Click here to see them</a></i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i>After a doing a 4 point star, and thinking a little about it, I finally figured out how to make a 5 point star. </i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i>Now, you may be wondering how to make a 5 point star. Well, the answer is very easy. However this time, I will just partially answer it because sometimes is amusing trying to solve easy challenges by ourselves. What I can tell you, is that <a href="http://es.scribd.com/doc/54289309/Endla-Saar-Saar-Star" target="_blank">if you follow Elsa Saar diagrams</a>, and learn how to make a 4 point star, you automatically know how to make a 5 point star. </i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><i>However, If you just are just interested in the star but not in solving riddle, then just <a href="mailto:vacadepapel@yahoo.com" target="_blank">contact me</a>, and I'll be glad to tell you the whole process. </i></span></div>

<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've finally finished my western dragon after three weeks of work. It was much harder to make it compared to the Eastern Dragon. Overrall, I'm happy with the result and the best of all, is that I finally got rid of my old business cards :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
By the way, I feel that is enough modular origami for now, but I still have two more posts on the subject. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil_Ntx6ztocEwZFVXejAJWvFOp9TWy2kE1CnVp41yAgq80wFhJeAF8tgC7rbvUqratIkz3XLebhmmUa1kiRXYrsSc7xzkRdIYKtnRzPEl2eHLwZlA2cp1Ng13THduFHwfq1d2930WrkSI/s1600/western_dragon_3d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil_Ntx6ztocEwZFVXejAJWvFOp9TWy2kE1CnVp41yAgq80wFhJeAF8tgC7rbvUqratIkz3XLebhmmUa1kiRXYrsSc7xzkRdIYKtnRzPEl2eHLwZlA2cp1Ng13THduFHwfq1d2930WrkSI/s320/western_dragon_3d.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i>I was looking for a way to recycle my old bussines cards and I decided to explore with 3D origami since I found out that the cards were perfect for making triangles. </i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i>The result is this dragon after a week of work. It is made out of more than 400 triangles (354 big triangles for the body and the head and 88 small triangles for the horns).</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i>I have to say that this kind of non traditional Origami is amusing, easy to learn and very creative. However, the main disadvantage I faced, is that the final model is very unstable and tends to collapse easily. So, if you want your model to endure, is inevitable to use some glue in strategic parts of it to keep it together for a long time. On the contrary, making the triangles is not boring as I thought before I tried.</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i>I still have more business cards waiting to be recycled, so there will be more 3D origami soon.</i></b></div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">
<br /> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: small;">I'm convinced now: modular origami is addictive!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I started the above model with a single cube becuase I learned how to build one during our monthly reunion early this month.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">It was funny to build but, from my point of view, it was neihter interesting nor challenging. So I decided to build a more complex model using cubes as building blocks. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I started with 6 cubes. It took me while to figure out how to join them without using glue but after a while, I was finally successful.</span><br />

</div><br />

<b><i>Long story short since I feel that today I'm all fingers and toes regarding English language: My niece needed an envelope for her homework so I decided to make one.</i></b><br />
<b><i><br />
</i></b><br />
<b><i>Above is the video of the envelope I made. I liked it a lot because is elegant and very easy to do.</i></b><br />
